Four-phase process
The School Board and district leaders have been engaged in a four-phase process to identify our most pressing needs and develop potential solutions. This includes analyzing the educational adequacy of existing spaces, the current physical conditions of district facilities, and past and future student enrollment. We also surveyed teachers, staff, and students about their current spaces and where improvements are needed. We will continue to seek this high level of engagement and answer community members’ questions all the way through election day.
Public opinion survey
To help the district determine support, we conducted a community survey. Households within the District were mailed a paper survey. Respondents could:

To help the district determine support, we conducted a community survey. Households within the District were mailed a paper survey. Respondents could:
- Fill out the paper survey and return directly to School Perceptions or
- Take the survey online with a one-time-use code. June and July 2022 survey window with 601 total respondents (34% participation rate)
Community Engagement
Over the spring and summer, we conducted a scientific community survey and met with a task force of community members and staff to study the issue and look at a number of options to address this challenge. On August 22, the board unanimously voted to move forward with the construction of a new middle school. This option was deemed affordable based on survey results.
